Men Victorious in Lewiston

LEWISTON, Idaho –
Ozo Rojas took fifth place to lead the Boise State men’s cross country team to a victory at the Inland Empire Challenge, Saturday.

Rojas traversed the 8-kilometer LCSC Orchards Cross Country Course in 24:08.0.

The Broncos dominated at the front of the race, getting three across the finish line in the top 10 – seven in the top 25 – to finish with 30 team points to outpace Calgary’s 40 points in the overall race.

Against solely NCAA Division 1 teams, Boise State was also victorious, scoring 20 points to defeat Washington State, Gonzaga, Seattle U and Idaho.

Chandler Austin (24:17.1) and Noah Horsburgh (24:21.4) also finished in the top 10, in seventh and 10th overall, respectively.

On the women’s side, Ali Deitsch just missed recording her second top 25 finish of the season – racing to 26th. The redshirt junior ran 18:29.4 for 5-kilometers to lead a contingent of five Boise State runners.

Racing with only five runners, the women were defeated in the team scoring by Washington State, Gonzaga, Idaho and Seattle U.

The Broncos will return to action for the Mountain West Championships, Oct. 27, in Albuquerque, N.M.
