Broncos Sweep Boise State Invitational

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State cross country team hosted the Boise State Cross Country Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 6), sweeping the individual titles over the 5-kilometer course at Ann Morrison Park.

The Bronco women began the day and were led by Kate Jette who crossed the 5-kilometer course finish in 18:27. Rici Morrill captured the second-place spot in 18:46 while Hayley Gregoire (18:57) and Breanna Perrone (19:31) placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Marissa Opatz (19:38), Jamie Knapp (19:38) and Cara Strodel (19:43) rounded out the top-10 finishers, placing eighth, ninth and 10th, respectively.

For the men, Zach Wiles earned the individual title winning the 5-kilometer race in 15:40. Dakota Parker was second for the Broncos and third overall in 16:00, while Ryan Byrd (16:02) and Nick Lobb (16:06) were close behind in fourth and fifth, respectively. Mike Claflin rounded out the Bronco men in the race, placing eighth in 16:21.

The Bronco women won the team race with 20-points after placing their top-five runners in the top-8 eight finishers. Northwest Nazarene placed second with 85-points, while Treasure Valley Community College scored 101-points and Boise State Track Club finished with 113-points.

Boise State's men won the team title with 21-points, while NNU came in second with 77-points. BSTC slid into the third-place spot with 112-points, while TVCC placed fourth with 113-points.

The Boise State cross country team will be back in action on Oct. 13 at the2012 Pre-National Invitational in Louisville, Ky. The meet will be their final regular-season competition of 2012.
