Ostrander Wins in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO -- Allie Ostrander began her Boise State career with a victory Friday afternoon at Golden Gate Park, winning the Dual in Speedway Meadow in 20.44.4. The Bronco men's and women's teams were both victorious in their dual meets over San Francisco, with the men receiving 23 points to the Dons' 33, and the women earned the win thanks to a 21-36 advantage.

After Ostrander, the Blue and Orange claimed the second and third spots in the women's 6-kilometer race with Minttu Hukka (20:58.3) taking second in her first race as a Bronco since transferring from Lamar, and freshman Brenna Peloquin earning third (21:00.4).

The Broncos secured the victory when Anna Holdiman (21:29.7) and Gracie Tostenson took seventh and eighth place, respectively. Katy Wood ran a 23:02.61 to take 12th, and Jordan Jacob finished 13th with a 23:58.71.

Running on an 8-kilometer course, the Bronco men took down San Francisco thanks to four top-five finishes. Sophomores Michael Vennard (25:21.3) and Louis McAfee (25:21.4) finished virtually at the same time with second and third-place finishes, and Rhys Park (25:33.0) and Dan Oekerman (25:37.8) earned fourth and fifth.

Chandler Austin provided the last score for Boise State after finishing in 26:27.6 to earn ninth place. Addison Dehaven (26:32.2) was close behind Austin, taking 10th.

San Francisco's Alex Short won individually on the men's side with a 24:55.1.

MURRAY, Utah -- The Boise State men's and women's cross country teams both took second at the Utah Open in Murray, Utah on Friday afternoon at Murray Park. Riley Campbell led the way for the men with a second-place performance on the 6-kilometer course with a time of 19:26.0, and Charlotte Corless took third in the women's 4-kilometer after running a 15:18.4.

The men finished with 32 points, falling to first-place Utah Valley (25) by just seven points. The women's team was even closer to claiming first, with host Utah winning the meet with 18 points while the Broncos had 22.

John Rodeheffer (19:27.7) was the second scorer for Boise State after enjoying a third-place day, and Jeff Lautenslager took sixth with a 19:51.1. The Broncos' other two scorers came in Melika Ghali (20:20.9) and Ozo Rojas (20:22.2) taking 10th and 11th, respectively.  Jack Curran (20:29.5) finished in 12th to round out the men's day.

Tyson Lambert of Utah Valley took first place individually with a time of 19:17.3.

After Corless, the women's team saw three additional top-10 finishes with Sarah Hastings (15:29.5) taking sixth, Sadi Henderson (15:39.7) claiming eighth and Zanaé Jones (15:41.2) finishing in ninth.

Ali Deitsch placed 13th with a time of 15:52.3 as the fifth scoring Bronco. Anne Brinegar (16:30.5) finished 25th, Kelsi Lasota (16:50.5) earned 29th place and Jessica Bottelberghe (17:09.2) took 23rd.

The Utes' Susannah Hurst won after finishing the course with a 15:09.6.

The Broncos will be back in action on Sept. 26 when they travel to Minneapolis for the Griak Invitational.
