Howard Earns Weekly Conference Honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- The Mountain West Conference announced redshirt senior Marisa Howard earned Mountain West Female Indoor Track & Field Runner of the Week honors.

Howard, a redshirt senior from Pasco, Wash., competed at the 2014 Hoosier Open on Dec. 12 in the women’s 5000m. She placed second in the race, running a time of 16:07.9. Howard’s time not only was a personal best, but places second all-time in Bronco history.

Her 5000m time currently leads the Mountain West Conference and is ranked seventh in the nation.

Howard competed in her first indoor race since the 2013 Mountain West Indoor Championships. She recorded a time of 16:49.4, which was her previous personal best.

This is Howard’s second Mountain West weekly honor, and first for indoor track and field. Three Broncos have previously earned Mountain West Female Indoor Athlete of the Week honors including Emma Bates, Mackenzie Flannigan and Mele Vaisima.

Next up for the Broncos is the Ed Jacoby Invitational & Multis, Jan. 16-17 at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho.
