BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Redshirt senior Tansey Lystad competed in her first race as a Bronco Friday evening at the Hoosier Open in Bloomington, Ind., taking third place in the 5,000m. Lystad clocked a 16:31.61, making her the third-fastest Bronco in school history behind Emma Bates (15:50.78 – 2013) and Marisa Howard (16:07.90 - 2015).

The Kirkland, Wash., native was third to only Erin Teschuk (North Dakota State – 16:01.69) and Maddie Van Beek (Unattached – 16:19.21).

Fellow redshirt senior David Elliott also ran a fantastic 5,000m race of his own, taking fourth place with a time of 13:49.82. The time is a personal best and further improves his ownership of the second-fastest indoor 5,000m time in school history. He trails only Forest Braden (13:47.73 – 2006).

Elliott was also in a highly competitive field that saw Portland’s William Kincaid win with a time of 13:44.34.

The rest of the Broncos will compete tomorrow in the Jacksons Open, scheduled to start at 9 a.m. at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.
