Much of the Boise State track and field team will open the indoor season this Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Jacksons Open in Nampa at the Ford Idaho Center. The first event will begin at 9 a.m., and the day will conclude with the last event scheduled for 4 p.m. The Jacksons Open is the first of five indoor meets that the Broncos will host at the Idaho Center this season.

WHEN: The first field event begins with the men’s high jump at 9 a.m., and the first running event will kick off with the women’s 60m dash at 11 a.m.

WHO: Boise State will be joined by athletes from Central Washington, Evergreen State, George Fox, Lewis and Clark, Northwest Nazarene, Portland, Saint Martin’s, San Jose State, Utah and Westminster.

HOOSIER OPEN: Two Broncos will travel to Bloomington, Ind., to compete in the Hoosier Open tomorrow on Friday, Dec. 11. Redshirt seniors David Elliott and Tansey Lystad will compete in the men’s and women’s 5,000m, respectively, against some of the best competition in the country. Lystad will race at 5:05 p.m. (MT) and Elliott will toe the line at 5:25 p.m.

WARMING UP: Most of the Broncos’ distance group will be easing their way into track and field after a long cross country season, but the sprints, jumps and throws groups will use this weekend to test and see where they are a month out of the bulk of the indoor season

DIRECTIONS TO THE IDAHO CENTER: The Idaho Center sits on the north side of East Franklin Road, between Idaho Center Blvd. and Star Road, approximately one-half mile north of Interstate 84. If coming from I-84, take Exit 38 and go north approximately one-half mile to the light (E. Franklin Rd.). Go right at the light and continue approximately another one-half mile and turn left onto Equine Drive. Continue another one-quarter mile and the building will be on the right.

TICKETS AND PARKING: Tickets for the day are $5 for adults. They are $3 for students with their ID cards, kids 6-12 years old and seniors who are 60 or older. Kids 5 and under get in free, and parking is also free.
