Broncos Begin Season with Jacksons Open and Multis

► MEET SPECIFICS - The Boise State track and field program opens up its season on Friday and Saturday hosting the Jacksons Open and Multi's competition at the Jacksons Indoor Track at the Idaho Center. The meet is the first of the 2012-13 season for Boise State and will consist of a women's pentathlon competition and a men's heptathlon competition, as well as open, collegiate, exhibition and invitational events on the track and in the field. start

$5 - Adults
$3 - Students with ID / Kids 6-12 years / Seniors 60+
Kids 5 and under are free

Friday, November 30
Pentathlon: 3:30 p.m. (60-meter hurdles)
Heptathlon: 4:00 p.m. (60-meters)
Track Events: 5:00 p.m. (women's 1 mile run)
Field Events: 6:00 p.m. (men's pole vault - open)

Saturday, December 1
Heptathlon: 9:00 a.m. (60-meter hurdles)
Track Events: 10:15 a.m. (women's 5000-meters)
Field Events: 9:45 a.m. (men's weight throw)

► THE COMPETITION - The Boise State men and women welcome a slew of teams to the season opener. The Broncos welcome NCAA Division I competitors Portland State, Nevada (women) and Utah Valley; NCAA Division II competitors Academy of Art, Central Washington, Western Oregon, Northwest Nazarene and St. Martin's; NAIA's Concordia (Ore.), Warner Pacific, Lewis-Clark and Carroll; as well as a handful of club teams.

► DIRECTIONS TO THE IDAHO CENTER - The Idaho Center sits on the north side of East Franklin Road, between Idaho Center Blvd. and Star Road, approximately one-half mile north of Interstate 84. If coming from I-84, take Exit 38 and go north approximately one-half mile to the light (E. Franklin Rd.). Go right at the light and continue approximately another one-half mile and turn left onto Equine Drive. Continue another one-quarter mile and the building will be on the right.

► INDOOR SCHEDULE - Boise State hosts six indoor regular season meets in 2012-13, starting with the Jacksons Open and Multi's on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. They open the New Year on Jan. 12 with the Blue and Orange Opener, followed by the Bronco Invitational on Jan. 19. The Jacksons Invitational (NB West) meet will be held Jan. 25-26 while the Bronco Classic (Feb. 2) and Boise State Team Challenge (Feb. 8-9) round out the schedule. Boise State travels to the Husky Invitational (Feb. 9) and the UW Last Chance Qualifier (March 2). The Broncos will also play host the 2012 Mountain West Indoor Championships Feb. 21-23.
