Townsend-Roberts Takes 5th in 100m

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil ­–
Bronco alumnus Roderick Townsend-Roberts took fifth place in the 100m – T45/46/47 final Sunday morning at the Paralympic Games. Representing the United States, Townsend-Roberts clocked an 11.08 to finish just shy of the podium.

The time was the second-fastest time of his career, as he clocked his personal best yesterday in the opening round when he crossed the line in 11.07. Brazil’s Petrucio Ferreira Dos Santos broke the world record after claiming first place thanks to a 10.57.

Townsend-Roberts will now take a few days off before he competes again in the long jump – T45/46/47 on Wednesday at 3:32 p.m. (MT). His best event, the high jump – T45/46/47, will take place on Friday at 3:18 p.m. (MT).
