Broncos Welcome 2010-11 Class to Program

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State track and field and cross country programs are pleased to announce and welcome their class of 2010-11 to Boise State University. The Broncos welcome 15 men and 21 women to the program, including four men and 13 women who will jump right into action for the 2010 Boise State Cross Country season.

 "We have put together a dynamic group of young athletes to continue the strong tradition of excellence at Boise State University," said head coach JW Hardy. "My staff has done a wonderful job of adding depth to an already proven program and we look forward to advancing the success that has been maintained through previous years."

Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
The Broncos add new depth to the sprints, hurdles and relays with the addition of eight men and eight women to those areas. For the men, Karrie Butler (Clinton, Md.), Manoah Wesson (Compton, Calif.), Don Hazzard (Idaho City, Idaho) and Josh Janssen (Portland, Ore.) will add to the sprint corps, while Anthony Belcher (Chandler, Ariz.), Justin Malnes (Meridian, Idaho), Drake Davis (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Ashtyn Lamb (Chandler, Ariz.) will add depth to the men's hurdle crew. Davis joins the men's team as the newest addition to the decathlon crew as well.

For the women, Cyntrail Pierce (Compton, Calif.), Mackenzie Flannigan (Chandler, Ariz.), Shannon Jacobs (Gilbert, Ariz.)and Steffanie Jordan (Chandler, Ariz.) join the sprint crew, while Alexandria Morton (Auburn, Wash.), Kate Jette (Clackamas, Ore.) and Kate Holman (Seattle, Wash.) join the hurdlers. Morton is joined by Andrea Morones (North Richland Hills, Texas) as the newest multi-event athletes, looking to compete in the heptathlon at Boise State.

Field Events
Many sprinters and hurdlers will also be adding to the Broncos' jumps crew, competing in any combination of the long jump, high jump and/or triple jump. Justin Malishan (San Marcos, Calif.) joins the men's team as a triple jumper, while Davis, who is also a hurdler, will add his talents in the long jump. For the women, Kimberly Miller (Tucker, Ga.) joins the team as a long jump and triple jump specialist, who also competes in the sprints alongside sprinter/jumper Jacobs. Morton and Morones make up the newest additions to the high jump crew.

Rounding out the field events, Will Lohman (Chewalah, Wash.) will be the lone newcomer to the throws corps, set to compete in the shot put, discus and hammer throw for Boise State.

Middle/Long Distance
The middle and long distance crew welcomes Drew O'donoghue-McDonald (Seattle, Wash.), Allan Schroeder (Spokane, Wash.), Andrew Booth (Wilsonville, Ore.), Tyler Rackleff (Tamecula, Calif.) and Brad Bogdan (Ithaca, N.Y.) to the men's squad. The women welcome Marisa VanderMalle (Pasco, Wash.), Emma Bates (Elk River, Minn.), Erin McLaughlin (Milwaukie, Ore.), Tessa Murray (Mount Vernon, Wash.), Rici Morrill (Sultan, Wash.), Shannon Moskowitz (Silverdale, Wash.), Alyssa Boucher (Shenandoah Junction, W.V.), Courtney Satko (Sisters, Ore.), Kailee Poetsch (Klamath Falls, Ore.), Lauren Lucas (Henderson, Nev.), Taryn Treadway (Flagstaff, Ariz.) and Danielle Zehrung (Silverton, Ore.).

O'donoghue-McDonald, Schroeder, Booth and Bogdan also cross over to the men's cross country roster while all 12 women who join the middle/long distance crew, plus hurdler Jette will join the women's cross country roster for the season. The teams are preparing to begin their 2010 cross country season on Sept. 11 at the Roger Curran Invitational hosted by Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho.
