BOISE, Idaho – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced its 2009 All-Academic Team and seven Boise State student-athletes have been honored by the organization. The USTFCCCA honors student-athletes for their achievements during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

            The Boise State men’s track and field team had six members named to the All-Academic team, which is made up of student-athletes from all over the country. Zacharias Arnos (Nicosia, Greece/Archbishop Mauarios III Lyceum), Eric Demers (Sandpoint, Idaho/Sandpoint HS), Trevor Kraychir (Twentynine-Palms, Calif/Twentynine-Palms HS), Eetu Viitala (Kuortane, Finland/Kuortane HS) and Simon Wardhaugh (Bracken Ridge, Australia/University of Queensland) were all honored from Boise State on the men’s side.

On the women’s side, Eleni Kafourou (Athens, Greece/9th Lykeium of Pireas HS) and Kayleen McDowell (Forest Grove, Ore/Forest Grove HS) also earned All-Academic selections for their achievements in 2009.

In order to qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field team, the student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.25. They must have also earned a NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying mark or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in an event in 2009.
