Ihmels Adds 16 Women to Boise State

Ihmels guided the women's outdoor track and field team to an eighth-place finish at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, giving Boise State their best women's team finish at an NCAA Championship in school history. He has already led the Broncos to a staggering 15 All-America honors between cross country and track and field, including bringing the women's cross country team to nationals for the first time in school history, where they finished 11th in 2014.
"Our staff couldn't be more excited about this incoming class of student-athletes," Ihmels said. "We feel like we found the right group that will help us continue to compete at the highest level on the national stage. All 16 of these student-athletes understand what it means to be a Bronco, and we look forward to having them all on campus in the fall."
A list of the men's signees will be released in the coming weeks.
Allie Ostrander (Kenai Central HS, Kenai, Alaska) | Distance
After winning the Nike Cross National Championship last fall with a time of 17:19, Allie Ostrander enters her Boise State career as one of the most sought after prep stars in the nation. The Kenai, Alaska native earned 10 state titles over a four-year span while competing for Kenai Central. She won 36 of the 40 races she competed in during her senior year at Kenai Central High School in track and field. Ostrander's time of 9:58.74 in the 3,200m is currently the No. 2 high school time in the country.
Kyra Lopez (Desert Vista HS, Phoenix, Ariz.) | Distance
Kyra Lopez comes to Boise State from Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Ariz. She helped Desert Vista to a fifth-place finish at Nike Cross Nationals as the third scorer. Lopez won a pair of region championships in the 1,600m and the 3,200m on her way to qualifying for state in 2014. In 2015, she took seventh in the 3,200m and ninth in the 1,600m at the Arizona Track and Field State Championships.
Jordan Jacob (Century HS, Bismarck, N.D.) | Distance
Jordan Jacob - the 2013 North Dakota Cross Country State Champion - joins the Blue and Orange from Century High School in Bismarck, N.D. Jacob placed third in both the 1,600m and the 3,200m at the 2015 North Dakota Track and Field State Championships, and also was a member of the 4x800 championship team that broke the North Dakota state record (9:28.55). With her performance, Century was able to capture the state championship as a team.
Alexis Fuller (Union HS, Camas, Wash.) | Distance
Alexis Fuller was a top-three finisher at the Washington Cross Country 4A State Championships during all four years at Union High School. She won five 5,000m cross country races and four 1,600m races in track and field in her senior season at Union. Fuller ranked 12th in the nation in the 1,500m (4:27) and won the Washington Track and Field 4A State Championship in the 800m as a freshman in 2012.
Brenna Peloquin (Gig Harbor HS, Gig Harbor, Wash.) | Distance
Brenna Peloquin comes to Boise State as the 2014 Washington Track and Field State Champion in the 3,200m. She took runner-up honors at the state championships in both the 3,200m and the 1,600m as a senior in 2015. In total, Peloquin placed in the top-four in the 3,200m at the state championships in all four years of her prep career. She also finished 50th at Nike Cross Nationals last fall.
Alissa Pudlitzke (Camas HS, Camas, Wash.) | Distance
While at Camas High School, Alissa Pudlitzke finished in the top six at the Washington Cross Country State Championships her sophomore, junior and senior years. She also excelled in the 3,200m at the state championships, taking fourth place her sophomore and senior seasons. Pudlitzke was right behind future teammate, Brenna Peloquin, at the Nike Cross Nationals last fall, finishing in 57th place.
Annie Bothma (South Africa) | Distance
Most recently, Annie Bothma took 48th place at the 2015 World Cross Country Championships with a 29:29. She also earned a silver medal at the South Africa Cross Country Championships that same year. In 2013 she won a gold medal in the 10,000m at the South Africa Junior Girls Championships, a year in which she won three other medals in various national South African races. Internationally, she also logged an appearance in 2013 on the South African team at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Poland.
Katy Wood (England) | Distance
Katy Wood earned a top-five finish in the English National Cross Country meet and represented England at the Cross Internacional de Italica in 2014. She won the 2014 North of England Cross Country Championships and was also third at the English National Track and Field U20 3,000m in 2013.
Maddie Hall (Thunder Mountain HS, Juneau, Alaska) | Distance
Maddie Hall gradually improved in the 3,200m on the track throughout her high school career, finishing 10th at the state championships as a freshman, third as a sophomore and runner-up as a junior. She placed third in the Alaska Cross Country State Championships her junior season after running the 5,000m course in 19:04.1.
Anna Hartwick (Timberline HS, Boise, Idaho) | Distance
Anna Hartwick finished 15th at the 2014 Idaho 5A State Cross Country Championships and competed in the Nike Cross Northwest Regionals two weeks later where she placed 62nd, making her Timberline High School's top finisher. She took 11th at the Idaho 5A Track and Field State Championships her junior year in the 3,200m.
Chassity Love (Prosper HS, Frisco, Texas) | Sprints
Chassity Love comes into Boise fresh off capturing the 200m championship and a runner-up performance in the 100m at the Texas 5A Track and Field State Championships while at Prosper High School. In her junior season, Love took fifth place in the 200m and second in the 100m at the Texas 3A Track and Field State Championships while competing with Frisco Lone Star High School.
Savannah Sharp (Sunset HS, Beaverton, Ore.) | Throws
Savannah Sharp enters Boise State fresh off a second-place finish in the shot put and an eighth-place effort in the discus at the 2015 Oregon 6A Track and Field State Championships. She won the state championship in discus as a sophomore in 2013 when she recorded her career-best throw of 127-4. In total, she ends her prep career with five top-10 finishes between the shot put and discus at the Oregon 6A State Championships.
Morgan Van Kooten (Lynden Christian HS, Lynden, Wash.) | Throws
Morgan Van Kooten joins the Boise State track & field team after winning the Washington 1A Shot Put State Championship at Lynden Christian High School in 2014. She won the shot put title in all 14 meets she competed in as a junior, and also earned a second-place finish as a sophomore in the state championships.
Minttu Hukka (Lamar University // Kotkan Lyseon Lukio HS) | Distance
Minttu Hukka transfers from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas where she won the 2014 Southland Cross Country Conference Championships. On the track side, Hukka won the indoor mile conference title in 4:51.69, and helped the DMR squad to a first-place finish as well.
Tansey Lystad (University of Portland // Kirkland, Wash.) | Distance
Tansey Lystad comes to Boise State with one year of eligibility remaining in indoor and outdoor track. She previously ran for Cal Poly, racing in three cross country competitions before transferring to Portland. At Portland, Lystad raced to a 15th-place finish at the 2014 NCAA Cross Country Championships, garnering All-America honors. A steeplechase specialist, Lystad placed fourth at the 2015 Stanford Invitational in a personal-best time of 10:01.31. She took 14th in the 5,000m and earned All-America honors again at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a 16:19.50.
Brittany Owens (University of Louisville // Borah HS, Boise, Idaho) | Jumps
With one year of eligibility remaining, Brittany Owens will return home to Boise and immediately make an impact in the long jump and triple jump. Owens earned second team All-America honors in the long jump at the 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She took fifth in the triple jump at the AAC Indoor Championships that same year, and also closed the outdoor season with two long jump titles and one triple jump title.
