WHAT’S HAPPENING
Jordan Ward and Allison Jeffries will compete in the United States of America Track and Field (USATF) Junior Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on July 5-6. The meet will take place at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

The USATF Junior Outdoor Championships accepts entries from competitors who are 14-19 years of age. In addition, each applicant has to use a qualifying mark or time from within the last year. The competing athletes will be a combination of collegiate underclassmen and athletes who will compete attached with their high school or club team.

The top athletes from this weekend’s meet will represent the American team on July 22-27 in the IAAF World Junior Championships in Eugene, Ore. The occasion will mark the first time that the event has ever been held in the United States.

THE BRONCOS
Allison Jeffries
Jeffries will compete in the pole vault and enters the event as the 14th-ranked competitor in the field of 18 pole vaulters. She had a tremendous indoor and outdoor season that saw her set school records in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault.

The Eagle, Idaho native carried her momentum into the outdoor season and took first place in the pole vault in the first five meets of the year. She broke the outdoor school record in the second meet of the season, and proceeded to re-set the school record in each of the next two meets that she competed in. The outdoor pole vault record now stands at 12-10.25 (3.92m). She capped off her first year as a collegiate with a fifth-place finish at the MW Championships.
