WHAT'S HAPPENING
Four Broncos will travel to Sacramento, Calif. to compete in the United States of America Track and Field (USATF) Outdoor Championships from June 26-29. Jordin Andrade, Emma Bates, Hayli Bozarth and Marisa Howard will be competing in the 400m hurdles, the 10,000m, the 3,000m steeplechase and the hammer throw, respectively.

The meet will take place in Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium and host the country's best track and field athletes. The site has hosted the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Trials, the 2010 USA Masters Championships and the 2011 World Masters Championships.

All four athletes earned their spots in the championships by attaining the necessary qualifying times and marks within the past year in either indoor or outdoor competitions. The fields will be made up of mostly professional athletes with a small number of college participants in each event.

THE BRONCOS
Jordin Andrade
The USATF Outdoor Championships will be Andrade's first appearance on the track since the end of the indoor season. He redshirted the past outdoor season, but will be allowed to participate in this meet as a Boise State competitor.

Andrade comes in as the 12th-ranked 400m hurdler in the field with a time of 50.03. He ran that time at the Idaho-Utah Border Clash over a month ago where he took first place as an unattached competitor.

At last year's USATF Outdoor Championships, Andrade took 17th place with a 52.31 and did not qualify for the finals. He is the only competitor out of the four Broncos traveling to Sacramento to have previous experience at the USATF Outdoor Championships.

Emma Bates
Bates will be making her first appearance on the track since winning the 10,000m NCAA National Championship in Eugene, Ore., two weeks ago. There, she ran a 32:32.35, giving her the second-fastest 10,000m time in meet history.

She comes into the race as the 5th-ranked competitor in the field with a 32:30.83. Bates will be one of three college athletes competing in a field of 19 competitors. She will be up against professional runners such as Jordan Hasay, Shalane Flanagan and Kim Conley, all of which possess sub-32 minute times.

Last time Bates competed in a field full of professional runners was the Payton Jordan Invite in early May. It was there in Stanford, Calif., where she ran her career-best time and set the MW 10,000m all-time record.

Hayli Bozarth
Bozarth will use the 212-7 (64.79m) that won her the hammer throw title at the MW Championships as her qualifying mark in the USATF Outdoor Championships. The meet this week will be the last time that she will put on a Boise State uniform during her Bronco career.

She competed at the NCAA National Championships and earned an All-America honor with a 22nd-place finish in the hammer throw (183-2 / 55.82m). She comes into the meet as the 16th-ranked competitor in a field of 18 throwers.

Marisa Howard
Howard comes into the USATF Outdoor Championships fresh off a career performance at the NCAA National Championships in the 3,000m steeplechase where she placed second and ran a 9:43.82. That time was a MW all-time record, bettering her previous personal record by almost 15 seconds.

With the qualifying mark at 9:55.00, Howard used her last chance to qualify at the NCAA Championships to earn a spot in this week's meet. She is the eighth-ranked competitor in the field, making her the second-highest ranked college athlete in the field behind Shalaya Kipp of Colorado (No. 5).
