Boise State track and field rising sophomore Miler Haller will compete in the United States of America Track and Field (USATF) Junior Outdoor Championships this weekend from June 24-25 in Clovis, Calif., at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium. Haller is slated to run in both the 10,000m and 5,000m.

The 10,000m will take place on Friday night at 10:25 p.m. (MT) and then the 5,000m will go off on Saturday night at 10:15 p.m. (MT).

Both prep and collegiate athletes are eligible to compete in the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships as long as they do not turn 20 years old at any time during 2016. The last 12 months have served as the qualifying window for participating athletes. They must have achieved the necessary time or mark to qualify in that window to be eligible for the championships.

The Edmonds, Wash., native recorded his 10K qualifying time (30:19.12) at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships earlier this season on the same track that he will be running on this weekend. His 5K qualifier (14:12.13) came at the Stanford Twilight in April. Haller has the No. 2 10,000m time and the No. 4 5,000m time in the field entering the weekend.

To represent the U.S. and qualify for the IAAF World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland from July 19-24, Haller will have to place in the top two in either the 5,000m or 10,000m.

This will be Haller’s second appearance in a USATF junior national championship, as he also competed in the USATF Junior Cross Country Championships at Rivers Edge Golf Course in Bend, Ore., in February where he ran a 26:16 on the 8K course to take second place.

The finish earned him a spot on the U.S. team in the 2016 APA Pan American Cross Country Cup in Caraballeda, Venezuela. Haller went on to finish fifth (26:43.05) individually to help the U.S. team to the team title.
