Former Bronco Grinnell Earns Spot on World Team

DES MOINES, Iowa – Former Boise State track and field standout Ryan Grinnell earned a spot on Team USA, Thursday, at the 2013 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium. Grinnell earned a trip to the 2013 World Championships in Athletics in Moscow, Russia, after placing third in the men’s triple jump.

The Idaho Falls, Idaho, native jumped 55’-10.25” (17.02m) on his first jump of the competition, good to hold him in third throughout all six rounds.

This was the fifth-consecutive USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships he had competed in. Grinnell was a six-time All-American and a 10-time conference champion for the Broncos from 2008-2010.

Currently a coach at Campbell University (North Carolina), Grinnell entered the competition with the ninth-best mark (53’-10.25” / 16.41m) in the country.  His two-foot improvement on his season-best jumped him six spots and earned him his first trip to the World Championships.

Former Bronco Jarred Rome will take the stage Friday, June 21 at 5:30 p.m. MT to compete in the men’s discus throw. Rome owns the second-best throw heading into the competition (63.59m).

The 2013 World Championship of Athletics will be held August 10-18 in Moscow, Russia.
