Boise State's Ryan Grinnell Named USTFCCCA All-American
BOISE, Idaho - After closing out the season with an impressive showing at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship, June 11-14, Boise State’s Ryan Grinnell was named a 2008 US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I Outdoor Track and Field All-American in both the long jump and triple jump, Monday.

During the final day of competition at the championship, Grinnell let his presence be known on the runway as he placed sixth during the triple jump finals after posting a best mark of 53-6.5 (16.32m).

Before placing in the long jump, junior from Idaho Falls, Idaho entered the long jump finals after placing eighth in the preliminaries with a mark of 5-7.25 (7.80m). While the competition was fierce, Grinnell appeared to be unaffected as he recorded a best-mark of 25-02.00 (7.67m) during his second jump of the competition.

En route to the NCAA Championship, Grinnell took the title in the men’s triple jump with a leap 52-6.50 (16.01m), leading the team in points with 12 for the Broncos. At the 2008 WAC Outdoor Championship, he was named WAC Men’s Field Performer of the Year in addition to being the High Point Winner after capturing the title in both the triple jump with a personal-record leap of 54-3.75 (16.55m), and the high jump with a mark of 7-2.50 (2.20m). At the conference championship, the junior also placed second in the long jump (25-7.25/7.80m).

In one season with the Broncos, Grinnell has captured four WAC individual titles winning the triple jump and the high jump at both the indoor and outdoor championships.
