Grinnell Earns Sixth Place Finish at NCAA Championship

DES MOINES, Iowa - During the final day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship, Boise State’s Ryan Grinnell let his presence be known on the runway as he placed sixth during the triple jump finals, Saturday.

The junior from Idaho Falls, Idaho posted a best mark of 53-6.5 (16.32m) to finish the event with a sixth place finish. Earlier in the week, Grinnell took 11th in the long jump with a best mark of 25.02.00 (7.67m), Thursday (June 12).

En route to the NCAA Championship, Grinnell took the title in the men’s triple jump with a leap 52-6.50 (16.01m), leading the team in points with 12 for the Broncos. At the 2008 WAC Outdoor Championship, he was named WAC Men’s Field Performer of the Year in addition to being the High Point Winner after capturing the title in both the triple jump with a personal-record leap of 54-3.75 (16.55m), and the high jump with a mark of 7-2.50 (2.20m). At the conference championship, the junior also placed second in the long jump (25-7.25/7.80m).

In one season with the Broncos, Grinnell has captured four WAC individual titles winning the triple jump and the high jump at both the indoor and outdoor championships.
