BOISE, Idaho-
Boise State track and field is off to Austin, Texas to compete in the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Championships, May 28-30 at Mike A. Myers Stadium hosted by the University of Texas. 12 Broncos will don the Blue and Orange in hopes of recording a top-12 finish to advance to the NCAA Championships, June 10-13.

Karyna Armstrong will be the first Bronco competitor of the three-day meet. Armstrong is scheduled in the first flight of the women's hammer competition at 2 p.m. (CT). The top 12 finishers out of the three total flights will advance to NCAA Nationals.

Boise State's 400-meter hurdlers will race against familiar competition in the first rounds. Jordin Andrade and Fernando Martinez are both in the second heat of the first rounds. The top three finishers from each heat and the next six fastest times overall will advance to Friday's quarterfinals.

David Elliott will race in the 1500m first rounds in the second of four heats. Elliott holds the eighth-fastest time in the West region. He will shoot for a top five finish in his heat to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals.

Allison Jeffries (Pole Vault) and Jordan Ward (High Jump) will compete on Friday. Ward will battle in the first of two flights, needing an overall top-12 placing to advance straight to Nationals. Jeffries will vault in the second of two flights, also needing an overall top-12 placing.

Mackenzie Flannigan will race the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the West Prelims. Up first for her is Thursday's 100m first round competition. She will race in the first of six heats, and the top three finishers from each heat plus the next six times will advance to Friday night's quarterfinals. Coming into Friday's 200m first rounds ranked No. 13, Flannigan will look to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals.

Emma Bates' first race is the 10,000m on Thursday at 9 p.m. Bates holds the second-fastest time in the region. The top 12 finishers will advance to Nationals. Bates will also compete in the 5,000m semifinals on Saturday, as will Tessa Murray. Both student-athletes will race in the second heat of the prelims, as the top five finishers from each heat and the next two fastest times will punch their ticket to Nationals.

Alexandru Terpezan will represent Boise State in the 200-meter dash first round on Friday. He is slated to race in heat four, with the top three finishers from each heat and the next six fastest times will advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Closing out Bronco competition on Friday will be Marisa Howard running the 3000m steeplechase. Howard will race in the second of three heats, seeking a top-three finish in the heat or the next three fastest times to earn a berth to Nationals.

Michael Vennard will be the final Boise State competitor of the West Prelims. The lone Bronco rookie to qualify for the meet, Vennard will run in the first of two heats in Saturday's 5000m semifinals.
