BOISE, Idaho-
12 Broncos will represent Boise State in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field West Preliminary Championships, May 28-30 at Mike A. Myers Stadium hosted by the University of Texas at Austin in Austin, Texas.

Each event is comprised of 48 competitors, with individuals seeking a top-12 finish for a berth to NCAA Championships. Current rankings indicate five Broncos hold top-12 West rankings, with multiple student-athletes falling on the cusp.

Leading the charge of West Preliminary Championship selections for the women are redshirt seniors Emma Bates and Mackenzie Flannigan. Both student-athletes will compete in two events. Bates paces the Broncos with two top-12 West Championships rankings in the 5,000m (No. 2) and the 10,000m (No. 2). She seeks to earn a berth to her fourth NCAA Championships as the defending champion in the 10,000m event.

Flannigan is also slated for a dual performance, running the 100 and 200-meter dashes. She ranks No. 18 in the West in the 100m and 13th in the 200. Flannigan will race in the NCAA Preliminary Round for the second time in her career, previously competing in 2013.

Marisa Howard enters the West Prelim coming off of Mountain West titles in the 5,000m and 3,000m steeplechase. Howard will compete in the steeplechase ranked No. 5 in the West. Tessa Murray will compete in the 5,000m ranked No. 35 in the region.

Three Bronco women will compete in the field events, including Jordan Ward (High Jump), Allison Jeffries (Pole Vault) and Karyna Armstrong (Hammer). Ward will compete in her second-consecutive West Prelim, while Jeffries and Armstrong will make their debuts.

On the men's side, Jordin Andrade and Fernando Martinez will compete in the 400 hurdles. Andrade comes in with the third-fastest time in the West with his school-record time of 49.64. He will compete in his second West Prelims, previously racing in 2013. Martinez will make his debut and comes in ranked 15th. Alexandru Terpezan will vie for a top-12 spot in the 200m, ranking 36th.

David Elliott (1500m) and Michael Vennard (5000m) will round out the Bronco competitors. Elliott lands No. 8 in the 1500m and Vennard at No. 22.

The West Preliminaries in Austin, Texas will run at the same time as the East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla. The top-12 finishers out of each region will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 10-13 in Eugene, Ore.
