The WAC Track and Field Championships Begin; Demers Fourth in Decathlon

BOISE, Idaho - Eric Demers of the Boise State University track and field team is in fourth place in the decathlon with 3316 points, after day one of the Western Athletic Conference Championships.


Demers began the meet by posting an 11.42 in the 100m dash to earn 769 points. He then leaped 21-8 (6.60m) in the long jump to capture 720 points.


In his first shot put of the season he posted a 35-7.25 (10.85m) to finish third in the event and garner 537 additional points. He then cleared a height of 6-1.25 (1.86m) finish second in the event (679 points). Demers capped off day one of the decathlon by posting a 54.69 in the 400m dash.


The final five events of the decathlon will be held Thursday, May 15, at Bronco Stadium with the 110m hurdles beginning at 1:00 p.m.
