The Boise State track and field team will head to Las Vegas, Nev., this week to participate in the 2013 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 8-11. The meet, hosted by UNLV, will be held at the Myron Partridge Stadium and Sheila Tarr Smith Field.

► MEET SPECIFICS - The 2013 Mountain West Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held, Wednesday, May 8 through Saturday, May 11.

The Mountain West men's team title will be battled for by: 2012 outdoor champion Air Force, as well as Boise State, Colorado State, 2013 indoor champion New Mexico and Wyoming. Those same schools will have women's teams vying for the team title, while adding Fresno State, 2013 indoor champion San Diego State and UNLV into the mix.

Wednesday, May 8
Heptathlon: 10:30 a.m. (100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200-meters)
Decathlon: 11:00 a.m. (100-meters, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400-meters)

Thursday, May 9

Decathlon: 11:00 a.m. (110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, 1500-meters)
Heptathlon: 11:30 a.m. (long jump, javelin, 800-meters)

Friday, May 10
Field Events: 10:00 a.m. (women's discus)
Running Events: 8:00 a.m. (women's 10000-meters)

Saturday, May 11
Field Events: 9:00 a.m. (men's hammer)
Running Events: 8:00 a.m. (women's 5000-meters)

► TEAM COMPARISONS - Boise State enters its second season in the Mountain West. The Bronco men come off of a second-place finish at the 2013 outdoor championships, while the women look to improve on their fifth-place finish last season.

Air Force's men and San Diego State's women look to be the top contenders this season after claiming the 2012 outdoor title and 2013 indoor title, respectively.

Heading into this week's meet these teams hold USTFCCCA national rankings:
#49 Air Force, #58 New Mexico, #71 Boise State, #98 Colorado State and #129 Wyoming

#22 San Diego State, #69 Colorado State, #85 New Mexico, #114 Nevada, #123 UNLV, #132 Fresno State, #147 Boise State, #176 Air Force and Wyoming (unranked).

► BEST IN THE NATION - Six Broncos hold top-50 national ranking in this week's descending order list. Jordin Andrade holds the Broncos' highest national ranking, sitting at No. 10 in the 400-meter hurdles. Matt Post holds a No. 15 spot in the hammer throw, while Daveon Collins ranks No. 18 in the 200-meters. Zach Wiles rounds out the men with a No. 29 rank in the 3000-meter steeplechase. For the women, Emma Bates ranks No. 25 in the 10,000-meters, while Alyssa Osai ranks No. 41 in the hammer throw.

► LEADERS OF THE (MW) PACK - According to the MW Championship Descending Order Lists available at the conference central championship site, 13 Bronco men and eight women hold top-three spots heading into the championship meet.

Jordin Andrade (400m hurdles), Daveon Collins (200m), Matt Post (hammer) and Zach Wiles (steeplechase) and the men's 4x400m relay hold conference meet leading marks heading into the meet. Collins also ranks second in the 100m, joined by Bryce Bergevin (800m) and Jeff Daw (400m) who hold No. 2 rankings in their events. Holding a No. 3 spot heading into the championship is Austin Hamilton (javelin), Drew O'donoghue-McDonald (1500m), Bret Scheve (400m hurdles), Barak Watson (10000m) and the 4x100m relay.

For the women, Emma Bates holds the only conference leading marks according to the descending order lists for the championships, leading in the 5000m and 10000m. Holding No. 2 rankings for the Broncos heading into the meet are: Mackenzie Flannigan (200m), Tessa Murray (5000m) and Alyssa Osai (hammer). Taryn Campos (200m), Marisa VanderMalle (steeplechase) and the 4x100m relay round out the top-three ranked women, holding No. 3 spots on the descending order list.

► CONFERENCE HONOREES - Six Broncos have collected Mountain West Athlete of the Week honors this season, including two honorees from the indoor season and four from the outdoor season. Jordin Andrade and Emma Bates (indoors; Dec. 11, 2012), were the only two indoor selections, while Matt Post and Alyssa Osai (outdoors, March 25, 2013) swept the honors early in the season. Marisa VanderMalle earned an outdoor nod on April 9, while Daveon Collins picked up the honor on April 16.
