Andrade, Bates Dubbed MW T&F Athletes of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Boise State's Jordin Andrade and Emma Bates received Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors, the conference announced on Tuesday. This is Andrade's first weekly honor and Bates' fourth.

Andrade, a transfer from Mt. San Antonio College, reset his own Boise State school record in the 400-meter hurdles at the Border Clash on May 2. Andrade ran a 49.64 en route to the school and personal record. He becomes the first Bronco to break 50 seconds in the event, as well as the second-fastest performance in Mountain West history. Andrade's time currently ranks first in the Mountain West, third in the NCAA West region and fifth nationally.

Bates competed at the 2015 Payton Jordan Invitational on the same day, racing in the 10,000m event. Bates went on to finish 17th overall but was the third-finishing collegian in the race. She claimed a 32:13.28 for a personal, school and conference record. She also bested her own school record of 32:20.83 which she set at the 2014 Payton Jordan Invitational. Bates' time ranks first in the Mountain West, second in the West region and fourth nationally.
