The Bowerman - Official Release

NEW ORLEANS –
Allie Ostrander was named to the 2018 Women’s Pre-Conference Championships Watch List for The Bowerman – the second-straight selection to the Watch List for the redshirt sophomore. She became the program’s first athlete to earn a nod to The Bowerman Watch List two weeks ago.

Ostrander is one of two distance athletes on the list, as she is joined by Karissa Schweizer (Missouri).

The other eight athletes include Brooke Andersen (Northern Arizona – Throws), Kendall Ellis (USC – Sprints), Maggie Ewen (Arizona State – Throws), Aleia Hobbs (LSU – Sprints), Lexi Jacobus (Arkansas – Pole Vault), Sydney McLaughlin (Kentucky – Hurdles/Sprints), Keturah Orji (Georgia – Jumps) and Gabby Thomas (Harward – Sprints/Jumps).

Ostrander most recently competed in the 1,500m at the Bryan Clay Invitational where she clocked a 4:15.06 to make her the second-fastest Bronco in school history in the event. The time is No. 13 in the NCAA so far this season.

Her other performance so far this outdoor season included a 9:38.57 in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational (March 31), giving her the meet record, the 14th-fastest time in NCAA history and making her the eighth-best performer in NCAA history.

Her time is still the fastest in the NCAA this season by more than eight seconds.

The Kenai, Alaska native will likely add to her resume tomorrow night (May 3) when she runs in the 5,000m invitational race at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, Calif. at 10:24 p.m. MT.
