Sexton Named WAC Field Athlete of the Week

DENVER - Boise State's Chase Sexton has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 18-24.

Sexton, a junior from Salem, Ore. (Salem HS), won both the shot put and discus at the Oregon Relays over the weekend.  His distance of 173-0 (52.73m) in the discus set a new personal best by nearly five feet and is the second best mark in the WAC this season.  His winning distance in the shot put was 53-3.5 (16.24m).

Utah State's Armahd Lewis was named the WAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after he won both the 100-meter (10.41) and 200-meter (21.29) dashes at the Cal Brutus Hamilton Invitational held in Berkeley, Calif.  Both times are personal bests and rank second and third, respectively, in the WAC this season. 

Other track nominees included:  Sawyer Bosch, Boise State; Cameron Parker, Fresno State; Jeff Aronson, Idaho; and Trey Hadnot, Louisiana Tech.

Other field nominees included: Donavon Cunningham, Idaho; and Spencer Hall, Utah State.
