Wardhaugh and Stevens Finish One-Two in Hammer Throw

WALNUT, Calif. Simon Wardhaugh and Jarrod Stevens of the Boise State University track and field team finished one-two in the men’s hammer throw at the Mt. SAC Relays, Sunday, Apr. 20, as both student-athletes earned NCAA West Regional qualifying standards.

Wardhaugh won the event with a toss of 219-3 (66.82m), however this was not his top mark of the season. He is currently ranked fourth in the NCAA and first in the Western Athletic Conference in the hammer with a mark of 224-2 (68.34m) which he achieved at the Sun Angel Classic, Apr. 11.

Stevens finished second to Wardhaugh with a throw of 211-8 (64.52m). The toss improved his third place NCAA West Regional qualifying standard and secured his second place mark in the WAC.

The Boise State track and field team will continue its season Apr. 25 at the NNU Twilight Classic in Nampa, Idaho, and Apr. 26, at the Robinson Invitational in Provo, Utah.
