Henderson Earns Conference Honor
April 11, 2017

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The conference announced the athletes of the week on Tuesday and Sadi Henderson was named the Mountain West Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from April 6-8. The league honor is the second of the redshirt sophomore’s career, as she also picked up a weekly accolade in the indoor season (Jan. 31).

Henderson clocked a 2:04.39 in the 800m last Saturday night at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Ariz., to shatter the previous school record (2:07.66). She defeated several professionals and some of the top collegians in the country to finish third in the premiere race. The time is also the fifth fastest in Mountain West history.

The Corvallis, Mont., native now is the school record holder in both the indoor and outdoor 800m. The 2:04.39 is the fourth-fastest time in NCAA Division I so far this season.

Henderson is coming off an indoor season where she competed as Boise State’s first 800m runner at an NCAA Championship – indoor or outdoor – in school history. She was the first women’s middle distance runner to compete at the indoor championships since Niamh Beirne ran the mile in 1996.

She took 14th at nationals, running a 2:07.40 to earn second-team All-America honors.

Prior to nationals she won the 800m crown at the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships and helped the distance medley relay team win with an 11:19.39, good for the second-fastest time in school history and the second-fastest time in Mountain West Championship history.

The Broncos will compete in three different meets this week in Southern California; Bryan Clay Invitational (April 13-14), Mt. SAC Relays (April 13-15) and Beach Invitational (April 14-15).
