► WHAT'S HAPPENING - Boise State will send its men's and women's track teams to two meets this coming weekend, competing at the Utah Spring Classic Friday (April 12) and the Wildcat Outdoor Invitational Saturday (April 13).

UTAH SPRING CLASSIC - April 12, 2013
► MEET SPECIFICS -
 The Utah Spring Classic will be held Friday, April 12 at the University of Utah's McCarthy Family Track and Field in Salt Lake City. The meet will not showcase the usual slate of events, but will include (for both men and women): 4x100-meter relay, 100-meters, 200-meters, 800-meters, 5000-meters, 100-meter hurdles/110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, high jump (women only), long jump, pole vault, shot put and hammer throw (women only).


► TICKETS - Admission is free of charge.

► MEET SCHEDULE (start times) - 

Friday, April 12 
Field Events: 2:00 p.m.  - Women's Hammer
Track Events: 5:00 p.m. - Women's 4x100-meter Relay
*Approximate end time on Friday is 7:30 p.m.

► THE COMPETITION - The Boise State men and women welcome NCAA Division I opponents BYU,  Idaho State, Southern Utah, Utah, Utah State, Utah Valley, Weber State and Wyoming, as well as NAIA affiliate Westminster (Utah).

WILDCAT OUTDOOR INVITATIONAL - April 13, 2013
► MEET SPECIFICS -
 The Wildcat Outdoor Invitational will be held Saturday, April 13 at Stewart Stadium on the campus of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. Much like the Utah Spring Classic, the meet will not showcase the usual slate of events, but will serve somewhat like a second day of events, including many of the missing events from the Utah Spring Classic. The Wildcat Invitational will include (for both men and women): 4x100-meter relay, 4x400-meter relay, 100-meters, 400-meters, 1500-meters, 3000-meter steeplechase, 100-meter hurdles/110-meter hurdles, high jump (men only), triple jump, javelin, discus and hammer throw (men only).

► NATIONALLY RANKED - Two Broncos hold top-five national rankings, according to TFRRS.com this week. Jordin Andrade leads the Broncos with a No. 3 national ranking in the 400-meter hurdles, while Matt Post adds a No. 10 ranking in the hammer throw. In addition Andrade ranks 71st in the country in the 400-meter dash. Daveon Collins also holds two top-100 rankings sitting at No. 11 in the 200-meters and No. 82 in the 100-meters. Zach Wiles sits at No. 12 and Marisa VanderMalle at No. 36 in the men's and women's 3000-meter steeplechase. VanderMalle also ranks 82nd in the 5000-meters, while teammate Tessa Murray ranks 78th in the same event. On the men's side David Elliott ranks 59th in the 5000-meters. Alyssa Osai ranks 27th in the hammer throw, while Austin Hamilton ranks 93rd in the javelin to round out the ranked field events for Boise State. On the track Mackenzie Flannigan ranks 81st in the 200-meters, Emily Funkhouser 88th in the 400-meter hurdles and Justin Malnes 93rd in the 110-meter hurdles.

► CONFERENCE LEADERS - Six Broncos hold conference leading spots in this week's rankings. Collins leads the conference in the 100-meters and 200-meters, while Andrade leads in the 400-meters and 400-meter hurdles. Wiles and VanderMalle lead in the men's and women's steeplechase, respectively, while Post and Osai lead in the men's and women's hammer throw, respectively.

Additional Broncos ranked in the MW top-five include: Aaron Back - 5000m (3rd); Bryce Bergevin - 800m (5th); Taryn Campos - 200m (3rd), Jeff Daw - 400m (3rd); David Elliott - 5000m (2nd); Mackenzie Flannigan - 200m (2nd); Emily Funkhouser - 400m hurdles (4th); Austin Hamilton - Javelin (3rd); Megan Kelley - 400m (3rd); Justin Malnes - 110m hurdles (2nd); Tessa Murray - 5000m (3rd); Lacie Rasley - Shot Put (5th); Marisa VanderMalle - 5000m (4th); Chelsey Washington - 400m (5th); and the women's 4x100m (4th) and 4x400m (4th) relays.

► HONORS CANDIDATES - Five Broncos have collected Mountain West Athlete of the Week honors, including: Jordin Andrade and Emma Bates (indoors; Dec. 11, 2012), Matt Post and Alyssa Osai (outdoors, March 25, 2013), and Marisa VanderMalle (outdoors, April 9, 2013).
