Bronco Track and Field Teams Dominate All Idaho Cup

                BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State University track and field teams dominated their competition this weekend (April 1 and 2) as the men and women captured team honors in the All Idaho Cup.

                After placing first in six events on Friday, the Broncos came back in windy conditions on Saturday to win 12 more events as both teams scored over 200 points.

                The men finished the two-day meet at Ed Jacoby Track with 209 points while the women scored 208.5 points.  Idaho State followed Boise State in team scores for both the men and women with 163 and 168.5 points, respectively.  Northwest Nazarene was third in scoring for both men's and women's teams with College of Idaho fourth.

                Boise State's men won eight events on Saturday led by Rolando Trammel's career best time of 14.34 in the 110-meter hurdles.  Trammel was a double winner this weekend after finishing first in the 400-meter hurdles on Friday with a time of 52.47. 

                The Broncos came away with the top four finishers in the 100-meter dash led by Eric Capelle's first place time of 11.06.  Karrie Butler was second at 11.09 followed by Edidiong Essien at 11.10 and Justin Malnes with an 11.11 time.

                Jeff Daw led a one-two-three finish for the Broncos in the 400-meter dash.  Following Daw's first place time of 49.57 were teammates Manoah Wesson at 49.65 and Dusty Klein at 49.91. 

                The Bronco men placed first and second in both the 800-meter run and hammer throw on Saturday.  Austin Edwards won the 800-meters with a time of 1:57.44 followed by Quinten Hennekam at 1:47.58.  Trevor Kraychir captured the hammer throw with a toss of 198-5 (60.49m), with Alex Nelson second at 188-5 (57.42m).

                Sawyer Bosch won the in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:27.6h; while the Bronco men came away with first place finishes in both relays winning the 4x100 in a time of 43.10, and the 4x400 in 3:25.87.

                The 100-meter dash was the dominate event for the Boise State women on Saturday as the Broncos captured the top six places.  Destiny Gammage led the way with a time of 12.09.  She was followed by Racquel Jones (12.15), Mackenzie Flannigan (12.37), Taryn Campos (12.42), Steffanie Jordan (12.47) and Cyntrail Pierce (12.51).

                Alexi Morton won the 100-meter hurdles for the Bronco women with a time of 14.34, and Heidi Dorling came away with a pole vault win with a mark of 11-5.75 (3.50m).  Boise State's women also won the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.57.

                Both Bronco teams head to Arizona for their next competition this coming Friday and Saturday (April 8 and 9).  The teams will split up competing at the annual Sun Angel Classic at Arizona State and the Mesa Classic at Mesa Community College.
