BOISE, Idaho The Boise State track and field team will open the 2009 outdoor season, Friday (April 3), as the Broncos are set to host the All-Idaho Collegiate Championships in Bronco Stadium. The meet, which concludes on Saturday, will feature five colleges and universities from the state of Idaho. Student-athletes from Boise State, Idaho State, Northwest Nazarene, College of Idaho and Lewis Clark State College will be participating in the meet.

            Events are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Friday, beginning with the women’s hammer throw. The final field event of the day will be the men’s discus, which is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. The men’s 3000-meter steeple will be the first track event, Friday, which will start at 2:30 p.m. The final track event will be the men’s 200m dash at approximately 5:45 p.m.

            On Saturday, field events will start again at 11:30 a.m., beginning with the men’s javelin. The final field event of the meet will be the men’s shot put, which is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. On the track, Saturday’s events will kick-off with the 4x100m relays at 2:30 p.m. and will conclude with the 4x400m relays at approximately 5:50 p.m.

            The Bronco men enter the outdoor season coming off a 2009 Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championship. The Boise State women earned a third-place finish at the WAC Indoor Championship meet. Combined, the men and women broke five school records during the indoor season.


Bronco Men Ranked Top-25 in Preseason Poll


            The Boise State men received a top-25 national ranking this week in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason poll. The men enter the outdoor season ranked No. 22 amongst NCAA Division I programs. The Bronco women are ranked No. 58 by the poll heading into their first outdoor meet of the season.
