Boise State Opens Outdoor Season at ASU Invitational

MEET SPECIFICS - The Boise State track and field program begins its 2013 outdoor season this weekend, competing at the Arizona State Invitational, March 22-23. The meet, hosted by Arizona State University, will be held at Sun Angel Track Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

MEET INFORMATION - The Arizona State Invitational is a meet including collegiate, junior collegiate, club and individual entries. The majority of the meet will be held on Sat., March 23, beginning with the field events at 10 a.m. local time. The meet also includes the hammer throw competitions, which will be held on Fri., March 22 at 1 p.m. Additional meet information can be found at:

TICKET INFORMATION - Ticket prices are as follows: Adult - $7; Junior/Senior - $5; Group (15 or more) - $3. Tickets can be purchased at Sun Devil Stadium on the day of competition.

COMPETING BRONCOS - Four Bronco men and seven women will make the trip to Tempe, Ariz. The following are the competing athletes and their events this week: Kyle Brush (1500m), Austin Hamilton (javelin), Kyler Osborne (javelin), Matt Post (hammer), Whitney Amoth (shot put, discus, hammer), Emily Funkhouser (400m hurdles), Kate Holman (100m hurdles), Andrea Morones (javelin), Alyssa Osai (discus, hammer), Lacie Rasley (shot put, discus), and Tajanee Simmons (100m hurdles, 400m hurdles).

IN THE RANKINGS - The Boise State men enter the outdoor season with a No. 109 team ranking. Based on preseason data, three men hold preseason rankings. Allan Schroder sits at No. 26 in the steeplechase, while Jordin Andrade and Rolando Trammel rank No. 15 and No. 37, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles.

Boise State's women's team holds a No. 145 team preseason ranking with two members holding individual spots. Emma Bates ranks No. 36 in the 5000-meters and No. 48 in the 10000-meters, while Alyssa Osai ranks No. 29 in the hammer throw.

HONORS CANDIDATES - Boise State has earned two Mountain West Athlete of the Week honors thus far in the 2012-13 season. Jordin Andrade and Emma Bates collected the first MW Athlete of the Week honors for the 2012-13 indoor track and field season. The pair earned the honors on Dec. 11, 2012.
