Broncos Head to Arizona State Invitational

► What's Happening - A handful of Boise State track and field members will head south for the 2011 Arizona State Invitational March 25-26. The meet opens the Broncos' 2011 outdoor track and field season and will be held in Tempe, Ariz., at Sun Angel Stadium

► Meet Specifics - Only a pair of events will be contested on Friday, March 25 with the men's and women's hammer beginning at 3 p.m. (Pacific) and the men's and women's pole vault beginning at 6 p.m. (PT). The meet's main event schedule will be contested on Saturday, March 26 beginning with field events at 10 a.m. (PT) (discus) and running events at 5 p.m (PT) (100m hurdles).

► Traveling Broncos -
Only a handful of Bronco sprinters and jumpers will be participating in this early season meet, looking to get some season-opening marks in the warmer weather. For the men Rolando Trammel (110m hurdles, 400m hurdles), Anthony Belcher (100m, 400m hurdles), Justin Malnes (110m hurdles, 200m), Eetu Viitala (long jump) and Josh Butler (high jump, triple jump) will make the trip, while Tajanee Simmons (100m hurdles, 400m hurdles), Kate Holman (100m hurdles, 400m hurdles), Emily Funkhouser (400m hurdles) and Racquel Jones (long jump, 200m) will compete for the women.

► The Competition - Along with Boise State making the trip to Sun Angel Stadium, 13 additional teams will be in attendance this weekend. Arizona State plays host to the meet, while Baylor, Georgia, Kansas State, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Notre Dame, South Dakota State, TCU, Texas A&M, UC Riverside, Utah (women) and Weber State will also be at the meet.  Two big name athletes, Jeremy Wariner (200-meters) and Wallace Spearman (400-meters) will also be competing at the meet.  

► Undefeated -
Eetu Viitala is the only individual who has remained undefeated since the start of the 2010-11 track and field season. Indoors he won seven-straight long jump titles, including the WAC Champion title. He set a career-best mark of 25-4.0 (Jan. 22) during the indoor season. The men's 4x400-meter indoor relay team has also gone undefeated this season, winning five-straight races including the WAC Championships.
