Petros Kyprianou Named West Region Assistant Coach of the Year

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State University assistant coach Petros Kyprianou has been named the West Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the USTFCCCA.


Kyprianou’s jumpers played a critical part in the men’s second place finish at the Western Athletic Conference Championships. Ryan Grinnell captured the individual title in the high jump and the triple jump while Savvas Diakonikolas won the long jump.


Under Kyprianou’s guidance both jumpers earned NCAA qualifying scores and will be representing Boise State at the NCAA Indoor Championships Mar. 14-15, in Fayetteville, Ark.


Grinnell earned an automatic qualifying standard and the second-best mark in the nation in the triple jump with a distance of 53-9.75 (16.40m). He also owns the No. 12 mark in the nation in the high jump with a height of 7-1.75 (2.18m). Grinnell will be competing in both field events at the NCAA Indoor Championships.


Diakonikolas qualified for the indoor championships in the long jump with the nation’s seventh-best mark of 25-8 (7.82m).


Kyprianou is in his third season as the assistant coach with Boise State University specializing in the jumps and multi-events.
