Zacharias Arnos Earns Trip to NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State track and field athlete Zacharias Arnos was officially accepted to the 2010 NCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships Monday night when the NCAA official qualifying lists were released. Arnos, a senior, will be one of 15 NCAA Division I student-athletes competing in the men's triple jump this Sat.,  Mar. 13, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. The men's triple jump is slated for a 4:30 p.m. (MT) start.

Arnos enters the competition ranked No. 12 with his career-best jump of 52-feet, 8-inches, an NCAA provisional mark which he set at the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 26.

The newly crowned WAC Champion in both the long jump and triple jump, Arnos will look to continue his outstanding season at the NCAA Championships. Arnos competed in six triple jump competitions and four long jump competitions during the 2010 indoor season, going undefeated through all 10 competitions. Arnos has had five of his six triple jump competitions result in NCAA provisional qualifying marks, including three finishes this season over 52-feet.  

The Nicosia, Greece native will be the only representative from Boise State at the NCAA Championships, as well as the only men's triple jumper coming from the west side of the Rocky Mountains.

Florida sophomore Christian Taylor leads the triple jump field with a qualifying mark of 55-feet, 2.75-inches.
