Felix, Vaisima to Represent Broncos at NCAA's

BOISE, Idaho - Two Boise State track and field athletes have earned bids to the 2012 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday (March 9 and 10). Senior Kurt Felix will compete in two events and senior Mele Vaisima will compete in one event, representing the Broncos as well as the Treasure Valley on their home turf at Jacksons Indoor Track at the Idaho Center.

Felix earned an automatic qualifying mark in the heptathlon on February 11, when he earned a school record total of 5,771-points. On Monday (March 5), Felix learned that he also earned a qualifying spot in the open long jump after earning a career-best mark of 25-1.75 in the long jump on Feb. 11.

Vaisima earned an automatic qualifying mark of 69-8.25 in the weight throw on Feb. 23, winning the Mountain West title in the process.

Felix enters the meet as the No. 10-ranked heptathlete as well as the No. 15-ranked long jumper. Vaisima enters ranked No. 7 in the weight throw.

Felix will be a part of the meet's very first event, beginning at 10:00 a.m. (MT) on Friday with the heptathlon 60-meter dash. He will also compete in the heptathlon long jump, shot put and high jump on Friday morning. Saturday he begins day two of the heptathlon, running the 60-meter hurdles at 10:30 a.m. He continues the seven-event competition with the pole vault and 1000-meters on Saturday. His open long jump competition is set for 5:15 p.m. on Friday.

Vaisima will compete in the women's weight throw on Friday, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
