Broncos Take Final Attempts at UW Final Qualifier

► WHAT'S HAPPENING - Seven Boise State men's track and field athletes will head to Seattle this weekend to participate in the UW Final Qualifier, March 3 at the Dempsy Indoor Track Center.

► COMPETING BRONCOS - Trevor Kraychir will be chasing an NCAA qualifying spot in the weight throw, while Michael Walrath and Dusty Klein will do the same in the 800-meters. Andy Robertson and Kyle Brush join them in the 800-meters, while David Elliott and Aaron Back compete in the 3000-meters.  

► MEET SPECIFICS - Kraychir competes at 1 p.m. (MT), while the 800-meters will be a three-heat final run at 2:10 p.m. (MT). The 3000-meters is slated for a two-heat final at 3:00 p.m. (MT). ► RANKINGS WATCH - The 2012 USTFCCCA Division I National Team Computer Rankings moved Florida to top men's spot this week and left Oregon as the top women's team since the preseason rankings.

Boise State's men sit at the No. 74 spot in the USTFCCCA weekly rankings with three Broncos ranking in four events. The women move to the No. 62 spot in the national team rankings this week. In the USTFCCCA rankings, Kurt Felix is ranked No. 10 in the heptathlon and No. 17 in the long jump, sitting just outside the NCAA meet qualifying field at this point. Trevor Kraychir is ranked No. 23 in the weight throw and will be trying to move up for a qualifying spot this week. For the women Mele Vaisima ranks No. 6 in the weight throw after a four-foot personal-best (two-foot school record) last week.

In the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFFRS) rankings six Broncos sit in the nation's top-50 in their respective events., Kraychir ranks No. 23 in the men's weight throw, while Vaisima ranks No. 6 in the women's weight throw. Kurt Felix ranks No. 10 in the heptathlon, No. 17 in the long jump and No. 39 in the high jump, while Rolando Trammel ranks No. 46 in the 60-meter hurdles. Alyssa Osai joins Vaisima in the weight throw rankings, sitting at NO. 45.

The TFFRS rankings are based only on 2012 results, whereas the USTFCCCA rankings take into account the final 2011 rankings of some athletes.

► WHO HAS QUALIFIED - Boise State has two athletes with NCAA automatic qualifying marks, guaranteeing them a spot at the 2012 NCAA Men's and Women's Indoor National Championships, held at Jacksons Indoor Track in Nampa, Idaho, March 9-10. Mele Vaisima earned a qualifying mark last week at the Mountain West Championships in the weight throw, while Kurt Felix qualified three weeks ago in the heptathlon.  

► CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS - Tickets for the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 9-10, 2012 are also for sale during the regular season meets in the ticket box. Prices for all-session passes are: $50 for Adult Reserved; $45 for Adult General Admission; $37 for Senior/Student Reserved and $30 for Senior/Student General Admission.
