Broncos Host WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships

► What's Happening - The Boise State track and field team hosts the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Championships this weekend (Feb. 24-26) at the Jackson Indoor Track at the Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho.

► Meet Specifics - This will be the ninth-straight season the championship meet has been held in Nampa, Idaho. Eight women's teams and four men's teams will compete for the WAC title with the Louisiana Tech women and Utah State men each looking to defend their 2010 titles.

► Tickets - Tickets can be purchased for a single session for the men's heptathlon and women's heptathlon, as well as the individual event sessions on Friday and Saturday. Tickets can also be purchased for all sessions.

► Parking - Fan parking is available at the Jackson Indoor Track at the Idaho Center parking lot free of charge.

► Undefeated & Win Streaks -
Four Broncos and one relay team remain undefeated in their respective events thus far in the season. Mele Vaisima has won each of the six weight throw competitions she has participated in this season, while Eetu Viitala has won all five long jump competitions he has been in this season. Brian Pierre now has two 3000-meter titles under his belt, while Kurt Felix has two heptathlon wins in a row, including a school record 5,669 points. The men's 4x400-meter relay team has also gone undefeated this season, winning four-straight races.

Racquel Jones has won three straight long jump titles, as well as four total this season, while Trevor Kraychir has earned three straight weight throw wins and five total this season. Rolando Trammel also has three straight titles in the 60-meter hurdles.

► Who's Ranked -
A handful of Broncos have entered into the national Track and Field Results Reporting System's (TFRRS) top-100 in their respective events.

For the women, Mele Vaisima ranks No. 41 in the weight throw, while freshman Alexi Morton ranks No. 76 in the country in the pentathlon. BreAnna Craig holds a No. 91 ranking in the women's pole vault.

Kurt Felix holds the team's highest ranking, sitting at No. 6 in the nation in the heptathlon. Also ranking high for the men is Eetu Viitala who ranks No. 15 in the nation in the long jump, while Felix joins him in the event at No. 41. Felix is also ranked No. 30 in the high jump and No. 62 in the triple jump. Trevor Kraychir ranks No. 19 in the nation in the weight throw, while Alex Nelson ranks No. 66 in the event. Rolando Trammel ranks No. 41 in the 60-meter hurdles while Manoah Wesson and Jeff Daw rank No. 95 and No. 99, respectively, in the 400-meters.

► Leader of the Pack - The Broncos hold the top spot in the WAC rankings in six events heading into the championship weekend. Rolando Trammel leads the WAC in the 60-meter hurdles, Eetu Viitatla leads in the long jump, Trevor Kraychir leads in the weight throw and Kurt Felix in the heptathlon. For the women, Mele Vaisima leads in the weight throw, while the women's distance medley relay team also leads the WAC.

► A Look Back at 2010 -
Boise State returns four 2010 champions (3 male, one female) to defend their indoor titles. Jeff Howard, who was also named 2010 WAC Indoor Track Men's Freshman of the Year, will look to defend his 3000-meter title, while Kurt Felix, the Men's High Point Performer of the Year, and Trevor Kraychir will attempt to defend their heptathlon and weight throw titles, respectively. Mele Vaisima will attempt to earn her second-straight weight throw title as well.

The Broncos also return eight all-conference first team members on the men's side and three on the women's side. In addition, they return 10 all-conference second team members for the men and three for the women.
