BOISE, Idaho The Boise State men’s track and field team will send six student-athletes to Flagstaff, Ariz., Friday (Feb. 20), to represent the Broncos in the NAU Tune-Up meet hosted by Northern Arizona University. The rest of the Boise State men and women are off this weekend in preparation for the Western Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held Feb. 26-29 at the Jacksons Indoor Track in Nampa.

            Boise State will send sprinters and jumpers from the men’s team to Arizona this weekend, with hopes of improving some of their times and marks before the WAC championship meet. Marlon Douglas, Per Strandquist, Eric Capelle, Eetu Viitala, Zacharias Arnos and Ryan Grinnell will all be competing at the NAU Tune-Up.

            Heading into the weekend, Capelle (6.85), Strandquist (6.89) and Douglas (6.92) currently hold the second through fourth best 60-meter dash times in the WAC this season. Strandquist also holds the third best 200m time in the conference at 21.73.

            The Broncos have found the most success this season in the jumping events, as they have recorded six marks in the nation’s top-30. Grinnell leads the way for the Boise State jumpers, ranking No. 10 in triple jump (52-06.75/16.02), No. 16 in high jump (7-01.00/2.16m) and No. 23 in long jump (24-09.00/7.54m). Arnos is currently ranked No. 22 in triple jump (51-05.75/15.69m) and No. 28 in long jump (24-07.75/7.51m), while Viitala is No. 27 in long jump (24-07.75/7.51m).
