BRONCOS WIN TWO FINAL EVENTS IN FIRST DAY OF BOISE STATE TEAM TRACK AND FIELD INVITATIONAL

NAMPA, Idaho Eleni Kafourou and Logan Meyer recorded two first place finishes for the Bronco track and field teams Friday (Feb. 9) night in the first day of the Boise State Team Invitational at the Jacksons Indoor Track.

Kafourou improved on her previous best in the winning the long jump with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 20-2.25 (6.15m).  Her mark is also the third best in school history.

Meyer won the pole vault with a mark of 15-7.00 (4.75m), while his Bronco teammate Heigo Nurmsalu finished second at the same height.  Meyer was declared the winner of the event due to less misses.

In preliminary heats on Friday, the Bronco women’s team had the top times in three events.  Nataucha Lowry posted a time of 7.84 in the 60-meter dash, Megan Olivetti had the top time in the 200-meter dash at 24.58 and Kayleen McDowell record a top time of 57.36 in the 400-meter dash.

Caleb Cazier was the only male Bronco to win a preliminary event when he posted a time of 49.65 in the 400-meter dash.

Action resumes on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with the women’s high jump.  Running events start at Noon at the Jacksons Indoor Track located next to the Idaho Center.
