LAST TIME OUT: Last weekend's UW Invitational brought record-breaking times and exceptional performances from several different Broncos. No time was more impressive than Allie Ostrander's 15:21.85 in the 5,000m (fastest time in the country this year), good for the fastest time in both Mountain West and school history. Minttu Hukka also ran a spectacular race herself, recording a 16:09.36 for fifth place in a stacked field. A huge personal record for the sophomore, she now owns the seventh-fastest collegiate 5,000m time in the country. Brenna Peloquin was right behind Hukka, taking eighth place with a time of 16:11.90, the 10th-fastest time in the country.

The following night it was David Elliott leading the charge with a 7:53.15 in the 3,000m, good for the fastest time in school history and the fifth-fastest time in conference history. Andrew Rafla also had a tremendous effort, running a 8:00.69 to make him the third-fastest Bronco in school history in the event. Elijah Armstrong's 8:09.37 makes him the fifth-fastest, Louis McAfee's 8:10.62 has him eighth-fastest and Addison Dehaven is now ninth-fastest after clocking a 8:13.80. Out of the three 3,000m heats at the UW Invitational, a Bronco came away with the victory in all three with Elliott winning the third heat, McAfee was victorious in the second and Riley Campbell won the first heat.

FINNISH RECORD: Minttu Hukka's time not only is the seventh-fastest collegiate time, but it also is the new Finnish record for the indoor 5,000m. The sophomore moves past Minna Rasimus' 16:16.13 time that was the previous mark, recorded on Feb. 5, 1999.

MW ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Allie Ostrander and David Elliott were named Mountain West Track and Field Women's and Men's Track Athletes of the Week for their performances this past weekend at the UW Invitational. It is the second honor of the indoor season, and the first for Ostrander. Ostrander earned the honor three times in the cross country season, making her the first athlete in conference history to accomplish the feat.

NATIONALS QUALIFYING MARKS: With the Indoor Track and Field National Championship on the horizon, the Broncos will be continuing to strive for the necessary qualifying marks (must have a top 16 mark/time at the end of the season) in the coming weeks. Ostrander, Hukka and Peloquin all are in the top 10 of the 5,000m, and David Elliott currently has the fourth-best time in both the 3,000m and the 5,000m.
