Broncos Geared Up For United Heritage Invitational

► What's Happening - Boise State track and field will host their fourth of five regular-season meets this indoor season this Fri.-Sat., Feb. 5-6 at the Jacksons Indoor Track at the Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho. The meet, called the United Heritage Invitational, will consist of collegiate, junior and master competitions both Friday and Saturday. Collegiate teams joining the Broncos include Northwest Nazarene University and Treasure Valley Community College, as well as the women's teams from UC Santa Barbara, Nevada and College of Idaho.

► Meet Specifics - This will be the first two-day meet of the season for the Broncos, competing Friday evening and Saturday during the day. Friday's field events begin at 5:00 p.m. with three masters/juniors' field events as well as the men's pole vault and women's long jump in the collegiate field competitions. On the track, the Friday portion of the meet begins at 5:10 p.m. with the masters' 3000-meter run. Collegiate running events begin at 5:55 p.m. with the women's 3000-meter run.

On Saturday, field events begin at 9 a.m. with a pair of masters/juniors' events as well as the men's collegiate high jump. Track events start at 9:45 a.m. with the masters' 1 Mile run, but the collegiate races begin at 10:20 a.m. with the women's 60-meter hurdles. The final event of the day is slated for 3:00 p.m. with the men's 4x400-meter relay.

► Bronco Schedule - The Broncos are hosting their fourth competition of the season after hosting the Jacksons Open on Dec. 4-5, 2009 and the BSU Duals on Jan. 23, 2010 and the Bronco Invitational on Jan. 30, 2010. The United Heritage Invitational is the fourth meet of the season and they will continue on to host one more home meet as well as the Western Athletic Conference Championships. They also have one scheduled away meet at the Husky Invitational in Seattle, Wash., next weekend.

► National Rankings - The USATFCCCA released its weekly individual national rankings on Tuesday, Feb. 2, placing three Broncos in the national rankings for triple jump, weight throw and the heptathlon. Senior Zacharias Arnos holds the nation's 12th-best mark in the triple jump this week. Sophomore Trevor Kraychir made his way into the rankings this week, sitting at No. 27 in the weight throw, while junior Kurt Felix holds the No. 30 spot in the men's heptathlon this week. As a team, the Boise State men moved up eight spots from last week's team rankings to No. 80 out of the 140+ teams included in this week's rankings.

The season's first regional rankings were release this week as well, placing the Bronco men at No. 5 in the Mountain Region. The women, who did not have a national team ranking, were placed at No. 14 this week in the premier regional rankings.

► Last Time Out - The Broncos most recently hosted the Bronco Invitational where they were highlighted by wins from Trevor Kraychir and Zacharias Arnos. Kraychir earned his first NCAA Provisional mark in the men's weight throw with a toss of 64-2.5 to win the event. Arnos captured the top spot in the men's triple jump, improving his already qualified NCAA Provisional mark to a distance of 52-4.5.

Also winning events for the Bronco men were Daniel Thompson (pole vault) and Quinten Hennekam (1 Mile) while Mele Vaisima (weight throw) was the only Bronco woman to win an event in the meet.
