LAST TIME OUT: It was the Bronco sprinters who carried the torch last weekend at the Bronco Invitational, as Chassity Love (200m), Fernando Martinez (400m) and the men’s 4x400m relay team all came away with first-place finishes in the one-day meet.

Love clocked a season-best 24.42 to edge out Portland State’s Genna Settle (24.48), and Martinez ran away with first place after recording a 47.96, finishing ahead of the second-place competitor by over a second. Love competed in the 60m as well, taking second to Settle (7.67) with a time of 7.69.

The men’s 4x400m relay team of Rex Stanley, Alexandru Terpezan, Martinez and Fisher also won handily, finishing with a 3:15.89 for a three-second victory. It was a busy day for Fisher, as he took fourth in the 200m (22.00) and also managed to place third in the 60m (6.92). Terpezan ran a quality race in the 200m and took second, just missing out on the title with a time of 21.72.

The first race of the weekend for the Broncos – the women’s 5k – will see Ostrander, Peloquin and Hukka all competing in what should be a fast heat. The three Broncos will be up against Kim Conley (2012 Olympian), Kate Grace (2013 USA One Mile Champion), Amy Van Alstine (2014 USA Cross Country Champion) and several other professional athletes. One of which will be Marisa Howard, a former All-American and now volunteer coach for Boise State who now runs professionally with Oiselle. Depending on how the race shakes out, all three Broncos could be looking at some fast times.

David Elliott still has the fourth-fastest 5,000m time (13:49.82) in the country from his performance at the Hoosier Open, and Fernando Martinez has the No. 48 400m time (47.96) thanks to last weekend’s Bronco Invite. On the women’s side Tansey Lystad has the No.14-fastest 5,000m time (16:31.61), which was also clocked at the Hoosier Open in December.
