TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS TO HOST BRONCO INDOOR INVITATIONAL AT JACKSONS INDOOR TRACK ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY (Jan. 26 and 27)

            BOISE, Idaho Boise State University will host over 400 student-athletes from 10 different schools this Friday and Saturday (Jan. 26 and 27) during the Bronco Indoor Invitational at the Jacksons Indoor Track in Nampa, Idaho.

            Competition on Friday will consist of the men’s heptathlon and women’s pentathlon.  The men will compete in four of the seven events starting at Noon with the 60-meter dash.  The women’s five events will all take place on Friday beginning at 12:30 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles.  The final three events in the heptathlon start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday with the 60-meter hurdles. 

            Aspen Clontz will compete for Boise State in the pentathlon, while Heigo Nurmsalu and Eric Demers will compete for the Broncos in the heptathlon.

            The rest of the events for the two-day meet start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday with the women’s high jump.  The running events begin at Noon with the men’s 60-meter hurdles.

            Boise State will have three defending Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Champions competing this weekend.

            Senior Ty Axtman, the defending league champion in the men’s mile run, makes his 2007 debut in the event at 12:40 p.m.  Sophomore Kyle Christoffersen, the defending conference champion in the men’s 400-meter dash, will skip the 400-meters this weekend and run in the 60 and 200-meter dashes.  The 60-meter dash begins at 12:20 p.m. and the 200-meter dash will start at 1:30 p.m.

            Eleni Kafourou, the defending league indoor champion in the triple jump, will compete in the same event beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.  Kafourou has already posted a NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the event this season recording a mark of 41-9.25 (12.73m) in last week’s Hamption Inn & Suites Classic hosted by Boise State at the Jacksons Indoor Track, which is part of the Idaho Center complex in Nampa.

            Other teams joining Boise State are Alberston College, the University of Nevada (women), Utah Valley State, Northwest Nazarene, the University of Utah (women), Cal Poly (men), Cal State Stanislaus, San Francisco State (women) and Central Washington.
