EUGENE, Ore.Jordan Ward tied for ninth place in the high jump at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday evening. She cleared 5-5 (1.65m) and tied for the fourth-best jump for any collegian participating in the event.

The freshman from Rathdrum, Idaho, cleared 5-5 on the second jump of her opening series and advanced to the next height. With the bar set at 5-8.75, Ward missed on her next three tries and was forced to settle with her opening height.

Only four women cleared 5-8.75, and the eventual winner, Bailey Weiland, was the only one to clear 5-10.5 in the third series of jumps.

Ward finishes her freshman year with a second-place finish and an All-MW honor in the high jump from the MW Championships. During the indoor and outdoor seasons, she rarely finished outside the top three in the high jump and gained valuable experience at the West Preliminaries and the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships.

Tomorrow, Allison Jeffries will compete in the pole vault at 3:30 p.m. (PT).
