Day One Results

EUGENE, Ore. –
Jordin Andrade ran a 50.96 in the first round of the 400m hurdles at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, good for 16th place and a spot in the semifinals tomorrow evening.

Andrade initially was on the outside looking in after the completion of his race, but an athlete who finished ahead of him was disqualified, opening up a spot for the Bonney Lake, Wash., native. This will be his second-straight semifinals appearance at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as he finished in 10th place last year.

Emma Bates almost earned a top-10 finish of her own in the 10,000m, coming just short in 11th place with a time of 34:02.65. Her time was the best for any collegian in the race.

David Elliott ran the 11th-fastest time of the day in the 1,500m with a 3:45.93, but a sixth-place finish in the third heat kept him from moving on to the finals on Saturday.

Rounding out the day for the Broncos was Marisa Howard (3,000m steeplechase) and Mackenzie Flannigan (100m). Howard was unable to qualify taking 23rd (10:26.49), and Flannigan ran an 11.58 to place eighth in her heat.

Andrade will compete tomorrow in the semifinals at 8 p.m. (MT), watch HERE.
