Jeff Lautenslager ran a career-best 3:44.77 in the 1,500-meter run to take third place at the Oregon Twilight Friday night in Eugene, Ore. The time makes him the third-fastest Bronco in school history.

His time is currently the 47th fastest in the west region, thereby putting himself in good position to qualify for the NCAA West Regional Championships. With the top-48 times advancing, the Nelson, New Zealand native is just within the qualifying zone.

The top three runners in the men’s 1,500-meter all-time school performance list have logged their times under the guidance of head coach Corey Ihmels; David Elliott (3:40.44 – 2015), Allan Schroeder (3:44.61 – 2015) and now Lautenslager (3:44.77 – 2016).

The Broncos will next compete at the Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will take place at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif., from May 11-14, hosted by Fresno State. For more information on the conference championships, click HERE.
