STANFORD, Calif. –
Allie Ostrander clocked a 15:45.41 in the 5,000m at the Payton Jordan Invitational to lead the way for the Broncos Thursday night in Stanford, Calif. Emily Venters also turned in a solid effort in the 5k, running a 15:54.46 in the earlier heat.

Ostrander got off to a solid start and was steadily moving up the pack, but eventually the leading group bunched up, causing the redshirt sophomore to trip and fall. She recovered well and managed to clock a sub-16 minute time, giving her the NCAA West Regional qualifying performance she needed in the event.

Venters ran well in a race that saw the top-two finishers put significant space between themselves and the rest of the pack with roughly five laps to go. The freshman battled and ended up taking fourth, giving her more valuable experience in the 5,000m before the postseason.

The Broncos will see Sadi Henderson (800m), Kristie Schoffield (800m) and Amy Pfaff (1,500m) compete at the Oregon Twilight tomorrow evening in Eugene, Ore.
