Day One Results

WALNUT, Calif. - The Boise State long distance runners kicked off the Mt. SAC Relays late Thursday night. Three out of the five Broncos who competed in the 10,000m set career-best times.

Jeff Howard and David Elliott lead the Broncos with a 29:28.78 and a 29:33.51, respectively. Competing in the invitational elite race, Howard and Elliott recorded career-best times along with the third and fourth-best times in Boise State history. Out of the 27 competitors in the race, Howard finished eighth and Elliott came in 11th.

Aaron Back ran a 30:46.23 in the olympic dev. elite race (26th/34) and Rhys Park crossed the line in 31:35.51 in the open-B race (19th/31).

On the women's side, Erin McLaughlin set a career-best mark in the silver elite race. McLaughlin ran a 35:05.94, good for 11th place in the 38-competitor race.

In the California Invitational, Roderick Townsend was unable to finish the last two events of the decathlon. After leading the first day of competition, Townsend competed in the 110m hurdles, discus and pole vault on day two, but was unable to compete in the javelin and 1500m.
