Bronco Hammer Throwers Start Sun Angel Competition

TEMPE, Ariz.--The Bronco hammer throwers kicked off the first day of competition at the Sun Angel Classic. Sophomore Karyna Armstrong paced the Broncos with her fourth-place finish in the women's open hammer, tossing a mark of 54.72m.

Armstrong threw a mark of 54.72m (179-6) on her fourth attempt to seal her top-five finish. Courtney Hutchinson competed for the first time in the event, tossing 45.87m (150-6) on her second attempt.

On the men's side for the Broncos, Juston Lindsley recorded a throw of 49.51m (162-5) on his fifth attempt for seventh place. Nick Demars took ninth place with his 36.79m (120-8).

The Sun Angel Classic competition continues Saturday. The first action for the Broncos will be the men's discus (11:20 a.m. PT) and women's high jump (noon PT), and the women's 100-meter hurdles (2:37 p.m. PT) and men's 4x100 relay (3:13 p.m. PT). The Sun Angel Premiere races are slated to begin at 6:10 p.m. PT, which will be streamed HERE.
