Bronco Throwers Open Well at ASU Invite

TEMPE, Ariz. - Three Boise State track and field athletes opened up the program's 2013 outdoor slate on Friday, competing in day one of the 2013 Arizona State Invitational. Matt Post, Alyssa Osai and Whitney Amoth each participated in the hammer throw, the only event held on Friday at Sun Devil Stadium.

The trio had a successful opening day, each recording career-best marks. Post earned the highest finish for the Broncos, placing third out of 19 competitors in the men's hammer throw. The redshirt junior threw outdoors for the first time as a Bronco, notching a mark of 196'-2" (59.79m).

Osai collected a fourth-place finish (out of 23) in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 194'-10" (59.39m). The redshirt senior improved her career-best by one-foot, as well as sitting just four-inches out of Boise State's all-time top-three list.

Redshirt freshman Amoth earned a mark of 142'-10" (43.53m) placing 18th in her first outdoor meet as a Bronco.

Post, Osai and Amoth will be joined by eight Broncos on Saturday for day two of the Arizona State Invitational.
