COLLEGE STATION, TexasSadi Henderson ran a 2:07.40 on Friday evening at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships to take 14th place in the 800m preliminaries. Her time does not advance her to tomorrow’s final, but the finish gives her Second-Team All-America honors – the first All-America honor of her career.

Henderson found a nice spot in the middle of the pack in the first half of the race and made a big move at the 500-meter mark to slide into first place. The lead was short lived, however, as the pack made up her move and the redshirt sophomore crossed the line to take seventh in her heat.

The result puts the finishing touches on what was a remarkable indoor season for the native of Corvallis, Mont. She clocked a 2:04.01 at the UW Invitational on Jan. 28, giving her the school record and the second-fastest women’s indoor 800m time in Mountain West history.

She excelled at the conference championships, as well, winning the 800m title with a Mountain West Championship record time of 2:04.83. Henderson also ran the 1,200m leg on the winning distance medley team that recorded an 11:19.39 for the second-fastest time in school history and the second-fastest time in Mountain West Championship history.

The Bronco track and field team will now prepare for the outdoor portion of the schedule, as they will open the season at the Stanford Invitational and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival in the Bay Area on March 31 - April 1.
